About

Eric Cramer, MD-PhD Student

I am a student in the Medical Scientist Training Program (MSTP/MD-PhD) at Oregon Health and Science University (OHSU). Prior to starting medical school, I worked on research teams at the Santa Clara Valley Medical Center (San Jose, CA), Institut Curie (Paris, France), and Stanford University Hospitals (Palo Alto, CA). My research has focused on developing statistical and machine learning models for predicting and treating chronic pain, as well as single cell analysis of the tumor micorenvironment.

At OHSU, I started the Computation in Medicine Student Interest Group (for medical students) and am a student liason for the MD-PhD admissions committee. In addition, I currently co-chair the Technology committee of the American Physician Scientists Association (APSA) and serve as an organization representative. I am also an ad hoc mentor for several mentoring programs including Pay It Forward, Partnership for Scientific Inquiry (PSI), and APSA’s undergraduate mentoring initiative for aspiring physician-scientists.

I received my BS in Biomedical Computation from Stanford University School of Engineering and MS in Biomedical Informatics from Stanford School of Medicine. Before medical school, I was a student-athlete on the the NCAA Division I wrestling team at Stanford, a chemistry and statistics tutor, and an Outdoor Trip Leader for Stanford Outdoor Education.

When I am not busy learning about science or medicine, I like to ride my bike, go for a long run, or travel with friends and family.
